Rocla’s design is presented at Shanghai World EXPO 2010

Rocla is present in the Shanghai EXPO’s Finnish pavillion called Kirnu. The sculptural architecture of the pavilion is aimed at creating visions of such themes as freedom, creativity, and innovation. These themes are also a fitting reflection of Rocla’s culture.

Pictures of Humanic reach truck, Rapid low level order picker, and AWT automated warehouse truck are projected to a large wall as examples of Finnish industrial design competence.

World EXPO 2010 Shanghai China will be held from May 1 to October 31, 2010 and last 184 days. The estimated number of visitors is 70 million, including about 5.5 million foreign visitors. EXPO aims to attract some 200 countries and international organizations as exhibitors. The scale of this event will be the largest in the history of EXPOs.

According to the organizers, the Finnish pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010 portrays our country in microcosm, presenting both Finland and its society to the world. Its inner space tells stories of Finland and the Finns. The pavilion is an example of how Finns are building better cities according to the principles of sustainable development. Like Finnish society, the pavilion combines creativity, high technology, and culture – a unity that makes for good human life.

Rocla’s design manager Kero Uusitalo was approached by the Finnish Expo organizers, who wished to introduce Finnish industrial design know-how to the public. Finnish design is more commonly known for consumer oriented design artifacts. “Rocla’s high standard of industrial design, which is backed by several design prizes, has won us a place in this EXPO”, explains Mr. Uusitalo. “It is a refreshing change to see industrial equipment shown alongside more artistic design objects”.

Rocla is active in the Chinese market area with automated solutions. In the first phase the EXPO will show pictures of AWT automated warehouse truck, and later on the new ATX automated pallet truck.

“We are honoured to be part of this great event, and thankful for the opportunity to introduce our capability to the World”, concludes Mr. Uusitalo.
